Migration is an issue that inevitably touches Monalisa S. Tuitahi's life in a variety of ways. She is an immigrant from the South Pacific Islands, where she was born and immigrated to the USA when she was 8 years old. As an immigration attorney, she is an advocate for countless immigrants in the US who seek a new home for a variety of reasons and needs. Her work in The United Methodist Church has brought new meaning to advocacy. It brings the need to address the domestic US immigration issue with a wider lens that takes into account the various global forces that inevitably affect immigration in the US. For her, it is a personal call for greater learning and sensitivity and she is blessed to have this opportunity to avail herself of this valuable resource. She is hopeful that her learning will further equip her to provide appropriate advocacy and service.
